Q: My last spray tan was different than the previous one, even though it
was done in the same spray tan salon.
A: Your skin is a living thing, and
is affected by many things like: diet, stress, season, food you eat, time of the month, medication , menopause etc. If your tan is different, even though solution
used was the same, the most probable cause is the condition of your skin. Hormonal change may result in your tan developing differently to your previous tan, it may be streaky, patchy, fade unevenly or produce lighter or even no colour.
Q: My previous spray tan resulted in my legs being slightly patchy? Do you think the spray tan technician was inexperienced?
A: This can happen, even being sprayed by seasoned spray
tan technicians. It may be something to do with the exfoliating product you have used before the tan ( it might contain
moisturizer that contained some oily substance), or it could have something to
do with your skin.
Skin secretes its own moisturizer and sometimes, for
some strange reason might produce too much of the oil and in uneven patches.
It tends to spoil your tan, but it is possible that
next time, using the same product you might get a perfect ta
Q: After my spray tan I find when applying make up, my face tends to be too white compared to my tanned body?
A: Yes, even though your face will be lightly sprayed to give you the sun-kissed look, most of us don't want to go without foundation the next day. We recommend that you also buy a foundation a shade or two darker than your normal one, and use for when you have your spray tan so that you can 'match' the colour of your face to your body. As the tan wears off in different stages, you can then mix your two foundations accordingly until your tan is completely off, and then you will go back to wearing your regular colour foundation.
We also stock make-up darkening drops which you can add to your current foundation. These drops are concentrated, and only a tiny little bit is needed to darken your foundation to match your face with your tanned body.
Q: Will I be orange after the spray?
A: No, I have different solutions for fair and dark skin, the results will be a gorgeous natural sun kissed tan!
Q: Will my tan rub off on my linen, or clothes?
A: No, the product dries quickly, and once dried should not rub off. However, if the bronzer rubs onto any clothing or bedding, the product is water based, so will wash out in the next wash!I will supply a before and after instruction pamphlet to help you get the most from your tan! or see intructions under TREATMENTS page.
Q: A few days after my last tan, I wore a tight pair of jeans for the day, and I noticed afterwards, that there were slight white lines where the seams had pressed on my legs and my knees had lost a little colour - why would this happen?
A: This is not common, but it has been know to happen. Two of the main after care instruction to prolong your spray tan : don't exfoliate until your tan is ready to come off, and : pat yourself dry after your shower . Now think of the material of your jeans - the material is similar (harsh) to an exfoliating glove, and on top of that you have your moisturizer on your legs, and of course you would perspire through the day - all 'ingredients' perfect for a mild exfoliation treatment! Which is why white lines may appear,
Q: I was in the sun this weekend hoping to get a tan for a special occasion this week, and am now burnt! Can I still come to you for a spray tan session?
A: Nope, sorry, I cannot spray on burnt/damaged skin, but you are very welcome when you have 'healed' It would be a waste, as your skin would start to peel due to the sunburn, and this would remove your spray tan, in patches.
Q: I have open sores, can I still come for a session?
A: Sorry, again, not until your skin has healed,
Q: I have hypersensitive skin, will the spray affect me?
A: Aviva Labs solutions are hypoallergenic, so you shouldn't have a reaction, but come to me, and I will do a test patch first, and then if you don't react, it will be ok for you to come for a full spray session!
Q: I am pregnant, and would love to look tanned whilst being pregnant!
A: Congrats! But no, wait until after your baby has been born, unless you have a letter from your doctor stating that you may participate in spray tanning. Spray tanning has not been officialy tested on pregnant ladies previously.
Q: My spray tan seems to fade/patch quicker on my chest!
A:This could be due to your perfume. Even though you exfoliated some perfumes just permeate the skin so deep and cause this problem, and sometimes, you may have quicker fading under breast area, or on the bikini line - places of the body which we perspire more than other areas, but this normally only occurs towards the last few days of the tan.
Q: Will my spray tan protect me in the sun?
A: No, the spray tan will give you the instant tan you require, but it does NOT have any sunscreen in the solution, so you MUST still use a sunscreen cream as you normally would if you were to be tanned in the sun. And preferably keep to lower than SPF30+, as high SPF sunscreens have been known to fade spray tans quicker. Water resistant cream helps prolong and protect the spray tan if you are going to in water most of the time.
Q: How brown will I get?
A: Everybody’s skin develops its own individual colour. Some people go very brown, others get just a glow. For those people, with repeated sessions, the skin tends to get used to solution, and starts to develop more colour. (You only need a few sessions to achieve this).
Q: I have heard that spray tans only last for 2 or 3 days. Is it really worth it?
A: The spray tan should last between 5 to 10 days. Exfoliation is the key to a long lasting and even tan, so the more thorough you are with exfolitating the night or morning before the spray, the longer your tan will last. Also caring for your tan afterwards is important. Use an exfoliant that does not leave an oily feeling aterwards.
Q: I see spray tanning brands advertising their product as being Organic - but there seems to be some confusion about this?
